1. Customizing your profile
2. Creating your very first “Tweet”
3. Finding & following others
4. Messaging and Tweeting to others
To customize your profile, click on the “View Profile” in the upper right side. Select “Edit Profile” below the cover art. At this point, you can select your cover art, your profile picture, your name, bio, location, website (if any) and theme color. After your changes are complete, select “Save changes”.
To create your very first Tweet, select the “Tweet” button in the upper right corner. A box will appear where you can input 140 characters (a space counts as a character). You can choose to add a picture or video (length can be 2 minutes and 20 seconds), an animated GIF (a funny moving picture to convey an idea), a poll, a location or an emoji. Your character count will be shown in the window.
You can find and follow others by doing a search for the person’s / organization’s name. When you find them, select the “Follow” button.
To message or Tweet at the person / organization you are following, go to their Twitter profile. Under their profile pic, you will see a “Tweet To” and “Message” button. “Tweet to” brings up the Tweet box and your message appears on their profile page. The “Message” button sends a private message. In both instances, the person / organization will be notified.
